Default I keep getting websites popping up on my computer...?

I keep getting websites popping up on my computer...i recently got a virus but i thought i got rid of it...this makes me doubt that. they aren't like pop ups becuz they are actual websites...here are some examples:

searches in ebay such as "com" or http"

free podcast website

celeb gossip

just a bunch of stuff i don't want and i have to close them..

it happens like every 5 mins

if i do need a pop-up blocker..and i dowload 1 will it conflict with the up-to-date mcafee virus-protection i have on my computer?

i just got another 1 and i am updating this..the website is leading4.com for small busines or something...rr i h8 this

1) if your running a trial of mcaffe or something like that, remove it.

2) if your mainly using internet explorer to surf the web, stop. download firefox and utilize that instead.

3) if you think you need new virus and spyware protection download avg anti spyware, avg anti virus, and ad aware se personal. scan your computer with these. also download ccleaner and use it

firefox will effectively block almost any and everypop up imaginable without much trouble...

since internet explorer is on almost every pc distributed, more hackers visues etc are built for them...

Popup blockers, such as the Yahoo and Google toolbars and IE's built-in blocker, will only stop web based popup advertising. They can help somewhat but will do nothing to stop popups on a computer that is badly infected with trojan downloaders that are "phoning home" and contacting other computers to download and deliver the pop up ads. I believe that your computer is badly infected.

Try a full cleaning and dis-infection routine, if you are getting excessive popups, or are getting popups even when you are offline.

This is the one I use (it will take some time). These are on-line scans, you do not need to uninstall any of your current protections. Be sure and do the "on-line scanners"

1. Scan for virus, worms, dialers, etc. and remove (free online scan) with BitDefender

http://www.bitdefender.com/site/home/

2. Scan for trojans, adware and spyware and remove (free online scan) with Ewido (now called AVG Anti-Spyware) NOT AVG anti-virus.

http://www.ewido.net/en/

--------------------------------------------------

And if you are using Internet Explorer browser, after your computer is fully cleaned of spyware I would suggest IE-SPYAD to prevent further problems,

"IE-SPYAD adds a long list of sites and domains associated with known advertisers, marketers, and crapware pushers to the Restricted sites zone of Internet Explorer. Once you merge this list of sites and domains into the Registry, the web sites for these companies will not be able to use cookies, ActiveX controls, Java applets, or scripting to compromise your privacy or your PC while you surf the Net. Nor will they be able to use your browser to push unwanted pop-ups, cookies, or auto-installing programs on your PC."

I'm pretty sure firewall would work. I've never had pop up problems since.

I had this same problem

It might be adware/spyware or a virus. try removing it.

Here are some free websites

AVG anti virus: http://free.grisoft.com/

adaware: http://www.lavasoftusa.com/

spybot search and destroy: http://www.safer-networking.org/en/index...

Superatispware:http://www.superantispyware.com/

I used spybot and superantispyware and that got rid of my problem.

You need to go to the start menu?.. "my computer" add/remove hardware and see if any programs have been added that you are not aware of.

On your browser Go to tools...... internet option...... delete cookies ??.delete files and all offline content

Go to control panel internet option and click on the privacey tab set the control to medium to high

goodluck
